Deprescribing #70 Follow up Rick Hill Letter from Mayo Clinic

Rick Hill's letter from the Mayo Clinic
Fifty years ago, Rick Hill received a harrowing diagnosis: Stage 3 Embryonal Cell Carcinoma—a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
What began as testicular cancer had quickly spread to his lymphatic system, becoming systemic. In 1974, doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, delivered grim news. They scheduled Rick for chemotherapy and urged him to bring his family to say their goodbyes. But Rick Hill chose a different path—and defied the odds.
Rather than pursuing conventional chemotherapy with minimal hope for recovery, Rick turned to an alternative. A pastor friend introduced him to the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. Leaving chemotherapy behind, Rick traveled to Oasis, where he underwent a pioneering treatment program based on Laetrile (Vitamin B17), detoxification, and holistic healing.
Against all expectations, Rick made a full recovery.
When he returned from Tijuana, healed and energized, he began sharing his story publicly. But not everyone believed him.
Rick Hill: “I had been giving speeches, and so many people accused me of lying—saying I never had cancer. Then the American Cancer Society went as far as publishing that claim.”
Rick Hill: “So I wrote to the Mayo Clinic and said, ‘You must have misdiagnosed me. The American Cancer Society says I never had cancer. I’m suing you for malpractice. I’m going to own the third floor of that hospital.’”
Rick Hill: “They responded overnight—with a signed letter from the Mayo Clinic.”
